James C. Dearth

December 19, 1946 — April 25, 2024

James (Jim) C. Dearth, age 77, passed away on April 25, 2024.

He was born on December 19, 1946, in Alliance, to Clarence O. and Vera I. (Fenton) Dearth.

Jim graduated from West Branch High School. He was drafted shortly after graduation and served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at B&W Tube for over 38 years retiring as a Tally Clerk.

Jim loved to work in his yard, mow lawns, and hunt deer and turkey. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help his neighbors. Often, he could be seen sitting outside visiting with friends and neighbors. Pappy, as he was lovingly called by his grandchildren, enjoyed watching their sporting events and competitions. He was their biggest fan. Jim was also a big Purple Raider fan and loved attending Mount Union Football games.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Rebecca (Brian) Hinchliffe and Jamie (Matt) Coldsnow; grandchildren, Zachary, Emma and Maxine; and sister, Judy Cox.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia J. (Cribbs) Dearth, whom he married February 1, 1968; his parents and a sister, June Conrad.

Per James’ wishes, no funeral services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
