James Richard Dillon, age 90, of Alliance, died at 8:21 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Sterling House of Alliance.
He was born November 4, 1922, in Alliance, Ohio, to Howard and Pauline (Nelson) Dillon and was a lifelong Alliance resident.
He was a graduate of the former Marlboro High School and the Indiana Institute of Technology. James was owner and president of Alliance Electric, Davis Engineering and Davis Technology.
He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Conrad Masonic Lodge No. 271 F and Am, Alliance Shrine Club, Tadmor Shriners, Questers Club, former member of Alliance Country Club, and past president of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce. He was an avid fan and supporter of the Mount Union Purple Raiders.
James was a United States Navy Veteran who served his country during World War II and later in the Naval Reserves.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie M. (Watson) Dillon, whom he married May 24, 1947; two sons, Robert W. (Suzie) Dillon and Richard N. (Diane) Dillon, both of Alliance; three grandchildren, Erin (Larry) Johnson, Katie (Luke) Oskin and Joshua (Rachelle) Dillon; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Shimp of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Schafer; and a brother, Jack A. Dillon.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at Trinity Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Kip Colgrove officiating. Visitation will be held from Noon to 1 p.m., at the church, with a Masonic Service to be held at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church, 1200 S. Union Ave., Alliance, OH 44601.
