James R. Dixon age 56 of Alliance died at 5:30 p.m. Friday August 15, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center.
He was born October 10, 1946 in Alliance to Ross and Martelle (Trott) Dixon. A lifelong resident, he graduated from Alliance High School.
Mr. Dixon worked as a Patrolman for the Alliance Police Department for 13 years, and was also employed as an industrial electrician.
Most people associate him with Dixon's Music, where he was the owner and operator.
Mr. Dixon attended both Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Beechwood United Methodist Church. His most recent accomplishment was starting Youth Music Alliance, a charitable organization to allow children to participate in area music programs by providing and repairing musical instruments for them.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn (Freshley) Dixon, whom he married June 4, 1966, daughter Rebecca and son-in-law Matthew Stinson of North Canton, daughter Emily and son-in-law Robert Severns of Louisville, daughter Molly Dixon of Alliance, three grandchildren; Brendan, Sara, and Justin, one brother Frank Dixon of Alliance, one sister Josephine Sigman of Charlotte, N.C., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday August 27, 2003 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kenneth Price officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
