James Emmons

March 21, 1952 — December 2, 2005

James L. Emmons, age 53 of Homeworth, died at 8:37 p.m. December 2, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born March 21, 1952 in Salem, Ohio to Howard and Lola (King) Emmons and was a lifelong Homeworth resident.
Jim graduated from West Branch High School and attended Kent State University. He worked as a supervisor for J&L Specialty Steel in Louisville, until retiring in 2004. He was a member of Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge Chapter 499 of Homeworth; he was a 32 degree Mason, and member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Canton. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Esther Chapter 120 of Minerva. He will be remembered by many for his quiet acts of kindness and his quick sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Jeannette (Hilton) Emmons; one son, Michael Emmons of Homeworth; one daughter, Amy Emmons of New York City; one brother, Dale (Carol) Emmons of Louisville; one sister, Beth (James) Payton of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church with Pastor Tom Sawyer officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Masonic Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
