James H. Hoover

James H. Hoover, age 74 of Alliance, died at 2:41 a.m. July 27, 2006 at Alliance Community Hospital.
Mr. Hoover was born July 10, 1932 in Alliance, Ohio to Herbert and Esther (Zyrd) Hoover and was a lifelong resident.
A 1950 graduate of Alliance High School, Mr. Hoover retired in 2000 from Cope Farm Equipment after working there for 44 years; in addition to being a lifelong farmer.
He was a member of Mile Branch Grange #933; past commander of American Legion Post 574 and member of its 40&8 Club; member of VFW Post 6730; and past-president and 30 year member of the Knox Ruritans.
James enjoyed gardening, growing vegetables and flowers; and got special enjoyment from farming.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War for which he received two bronze service stars.
Survivors include his wife, Ester (King) Hoover, whom he married June 12, 1955; one granddaughter, Melissa (James) Dyke of Beloit; one great-grandson, Dylan Dyke; seven sisters, Joanne Burns of Streetsboro, Rosemary (Richard) Wolfgang of Poland, Marlene (William) Monroe of Alliance, Carolyn (Morris) Mercer of Alliance, Audrey (Melvin) Leech of Alliance and Kathlene Hoover; five brothers, Gerald (Angie) Hoover of Akron, Daune Hoover of Barberton, Richard Hoover of Alliance, Jacob Hoover of Alliance, and Steven Hoover.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Tanna Lee; one sister, Linda Edwards; and one brother, Kenneth Hoover.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Kitzmiller of the First Christian Church in Canton officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Memorial
