James E. Hurford, age 68, of Alliance, died at 10:02 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born September 4, 1940 in Alliance to Frederick Charles "Fritz" and Dorothy (Smith) Hurford and was a lifelong resident.
A graduate of Alliance High School, James was employed at Stewart Brothers Paint, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He was formerly active in Alliance Bowlers Hall of Fame, honorary member of the Alliance Bowling Association and member of the American Legion Post #166.
James is survived by his wife, Ann (Richter) Hurford, whom he married October 26, 1968; two sons, Kevin (Leigh) Hurford and James M. (Stacy) Hurford both of Sebring; six grandchildren, and one on the way; brother Daniel (Elva) Hurford and sister Dorena Mathey both of Alliance and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, William "Bill" Hurford Sr.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Highalnd Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance Bowling Association or to the Alliance Wrestling Program.
