James T. Jones, age 89, of Alliance, died at 4:15 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born on June 16, 1920 in New Franklin, Ohio to David and Elizabeth (Binkley) Jones. Mr. Jones was former owner of Atlas Welding & Stamping and retired from General Motors in Lordstown.
A WWII Veteran, Mr. Jones served with the Air Corps. He was a member of Beechwood Christian Church, a life member of the Elks and D.A.V., and a member of the American Legion, Alliance Eagles, Conrad Masonic Lodge, and Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. (Kickel) Jones whom he married August, 22, 1941; daughter, Judith K. (George) Wayt of Alliance; two granddaughters, Jennifer Wayt of Alliance and Christine Wayt of Canton.
Jim will also be sadly missed by his beloved dog, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Juanita and Maxine Jones and Donna Galfi; and two brothers, David and William Jones.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2010, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. A Masonic Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Interment with Military Honors provided by members of the American Legion and VFW Posts of Alliance will be at Highland Memorial Park.
