James Eugene Raymond Keyser, age 66, of Atwater, Ohio, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. He was born November 2, 1943 in Braddock, Pennsylvania, to Eugene L. and Helen H. (Engler) Keyser and resided in the vicinity since 1970. James was a 1962 graduate of Brilliant Memorial High School and was employed at Transue William Forge and owner of Triple D Tires in Atwater. He was a member of the Vine Street United Methodist Church the American Legion in Brilliant, Ohio. He enjoyed spending time with his family, wood working, building model trains and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. James was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He served with the United States Army for 10 years, Ohio National Guard for 18 years in Alliance & Canton, AST at Alliance Armory and retired as a Sergeant First Class. He served with the 504th and 505th Air Bourne, Mainz, Germany, 10th Special Forces Group Headquarters, Administrative Clerk, Bad Tolez, Germany, 3/8 Cav. A. Trp., Personnel Clerk Mannheim, Germany, Headquarters 101st ABN Division, Personnel Clerk, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, WOC Flight School, Ft. Wolters, Texas, 18th ABN Corp. Headquarters, PSNCO, Ft. Bragg, NC, 82nd ABN Division Headquarters, Personnel NCO, Ft. Bragg, NC, Headquarter 1st BDE, 1st Cav. Div. PSNCO Ankhe, Vietnam, 15th Admin. Co., 1st. Cav. Div. Personnel Management Sgt., Ankhe, Vietnam, 82nd ABN Div., 82nd Admin. Co., Personnel NCO, Ft. Bragg, NC, and AFEES, NY, Mental Testing NCO, 39 Whitehall St., NY, NY. Survivors include his wife, Charlene L. Keyser of Atwater, daughters, Debbie (Michael) Cox-Vagotis of Phoenix, Arizona, Dawn Riley and Darla (Chad) Marsh, both of Atwater; grandchildren, Ashley, Shawn, Nikki, Ariel of Phoenix, Arizona and Zachary and Mackenzie of Atwater, sister, Artist Flesher and brother, Robert (Barbara) Keyser, both of Mingo Junction, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Jim Flesher. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Atwater Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the USO.
