James Riley McLaughlin Sr., age 93, of Minerva, passed away at 3:15 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at St. Luke Lutheran Community in Minerva.
He was born October 4, 1922, in Otsego, Ohio, to Thomas and Nelle (Buker) McLaughlin.
James was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minerva. Employed as a licensed stationary engineer for American Steel Company, he retired in January 1999 after 36 years.
He was veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II.
James enjoyed traveling with his late wife, Evelyn, and had traveled to the Mediterranean, the Panama Canal, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
Survivors include his sons, James R. (Rosemary) McLaughlin Jr. of East Rochester and Thomas (Rebecca) McLaughlin of North Canton; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Evelyn (Wallace) McLaughlin, whom he married August 1, 1948 and who died March 22, 2011; son, Bryan David McLaughlin; four brothers; and four sisters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minerva 515 E. Line St. with Pastor Steven Woyen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
