James G. "Pops" McNemar, age 66, of Alliance, departed at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born March 2, 1948, in Oakland, Maryland, to Clyde and Freda (Cross) McNemar, and lived in Alliance most of his life.
James attended Alliance High School and was a United States Army Veteran. He was employed by American Steel and Alliance Castings as a core maker.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, coaching Hot Stove Baseball, and cooking. He especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. (Noling) McNemar, whom he married January 23, 1971; son, Michael McNemar of Alliance; niece, Melissa (Jim) Dyke of Alliance, whom he raised; grandchildren, Alexis McNemar and special friend, Victoria, Jaden and Kennadi McNemar and Dylan and Hannah Dyke, all of Alliance; and three sisters, Sharon (David) Leasure, Elaine Ellsworth and Janet (Terry) Stull, all of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home Pastor Roger Meir officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
