James Augustin Morrissey, age 81, of Staten Island, New York, passed away in Alliance at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2009.
He was born July 18, 1927 in Long Island City, New York, to James and Elizabeth (Sheppard) Morrissey.
A graduate of New Dorp High School in Staten Island, James attended Texas A & M University and Wagner College on Staten Island. He was employed and retired from Exxon Chemical Co. after 38 years of service.
James was a United States Navy Veteran having served during World War II and Korea. He was a member of Great Kills Yacht Club and enjoyed fishing for tuna and striped bass. He also enjoyed traveling. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Staten Island, New York.
Survivors include his two sons, Gannon F. Morrissey and James R. Morrissey, both of Alliance and several cousins.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held on Staten Island at a later date.
