James F. Phillips

James F. Phillips, age 89, of Sebring, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Crandall Medical Center.
He was born December 10, 1923 in Wellston, OH to Frank and Belva (Jones) Phillips.
James was a graduate of Wellston High School and was employed by Alliance Manufacturing as an inspector until his retirement.
A U. S. Army veteran who received the Bronze Star at the Battle of the Bulge, Mr. Phillips was also a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Homeworth Masonic Lodge F & AM, Scottish Rites Valley of Canton and the Sebring VFW and was a former member of Tadmore Temple and Alliance Shrine Club.
Survivors include his nephew, James Newman; niece, Shelly Richardson; several great nieces and nephews; best friend, Jim Richards; and special friend Jean (Barber) Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 37 years, Freda M. (Spellacy) Phillips.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Neil Orchard officiating. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Interment will be at Salem Greenlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alliance Shrine Children's Transportation Fund, c/o Dale Dillon, 1078 Glenwood Dr., Alliance, OH 44601.
