James R. Ritchie

August 22, 1921 — October 11, 2005

James R. Ritchie, age 84 of Alliance, died at 7:30 p.m. October 11, 2005 at Roselawn Terrace, following an extended illness.
Mr. Ritchie was born Sept. 22, 1921 in North Georgetown, Ohio to Homer and Edith (Stuckey) Ritchie and was a lifelong area resident.
He retired after working as a self-employed excavator with Ritchie's Excavating. He later owned and operated the former Ritchie's Harrisburg Inn.
Mr. Ritchie was a life member of the North Georgetown George D. Worth Post 574, and member of the VFW Post 6730 of Sebring. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre.
Survivors include, his wife, Mary K. (Bondoni) Ritchie, whom he married Feb. 2, 1946; two sons, Larry M. (Shirlyn) Ritchie of Alliance, and Gary J. (Nancy) Ritchie of Louisville;
six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Emplit of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arthur and Edward Ritchie, and three sisters, Rhea Barker, Irene Mohr, and Mabel Everson.
The family sends their heartfelt thanks to his wonderful caregivers at Roselawn Terrace, to Father Donald Feicht from St. Joseph Catholic Church for his prayers and support, and to Dr. Gamal El-Mobasher for his excellent care.
A Memorial luncheon will be held Friday at Noon at the Schwartz Center at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
