James S. Rittenhouse, Jr

James S. Rittenhouse, Jr., age 83, of Alliance, died at 3:10 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Aultman Compassionate Care Center in Canton.
He was born August 7, 1929, in Alliance, Ohio, to James S., Sr. and Grace S. (Barnett) Rittenhouse and was a lifelong resident.
A 1947 graduate of Alliance High School, James also attended Mount Union College. He was formerly employed with Ashley Chevrolet, Lavery Chevrolet for thirty years, retired from Henschen Motor Company as general manager after seven years, and founder and owner of Stor-Safe Storage in Alliance.
James was a member of the First Christian Church, sixty year member of the BPO Elks No. 467, and a former member of the Alliance Country Club.
Survivors include his daughters, Cynthia O'Neil of Uniontown, Penny (Thomas) Truesdale of Defiance, and Terri (Blaise) Early of Stuart, Fla; sons, Jerry (Debbie) Rittenhouse of Palm Harbor, Fla. and Ted (Patrice) Rittenhouse of Alliance; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Robert Rittenhouse of Cleveland and Ronald Rittenhouse of Alliance.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 61 years, Myrtle (Martin) Rittenhouse, whom he married November 28, 1949 and who died February 8, 2011.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Sue DeHoff officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
