James C. "Jim" Snyder, age 75, of Alliance, passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family at 1:50 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010.
He was born July 9, 1934 in Canton, Ohio, to Calvin T. and Laura M. (Nidy) Snyder.
A graduate of the former Marlboro High School, Jim was retired from the Jerry Moore Inc. and Sable Creek Golf Course.
Jim attended Alliance Church of the Nazarene. He was active in sports in high school and member of the Marlboro Alumnus Association. He was an avid golfer and blood donor.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly J. (Kannal) Snyder whom he married September 21, 1985; children, Mark (Barbara) Snyder of Georgia, Kevin (Carla) Snyder of N. Canton, Judy Snyder of Arizona, Laura Snyder (Curt May) of Florida, Sue (Ted) Cobb, Colleen (Gerald) Kuntzman and Carrie Huff, all of Alliance; and grandchildren, Ryan, Brett, Blake, Gina, Morgan and Mason Snyder; Jordan Hrkach, Gary and Stacey Wolfe, Craig Cobb, Becky Vigliotti, Jennifer Smith, Jerry Kuntzman, Noah, Sarah, Jacob and Caleb Huff; great-grandchildren, Haley, Hunter, Alyssa, Jozie, Sophia, Mia and Amanda.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and his son, Lenny Snyder.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Davidson officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 885 S. Sawburg Rd, Alliance, Ohio, 44601 or to The Foundation for America's Blood Centers, 725 15th St. NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005.
