James W. Theaker, age 73, of Alliance, passed away at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Roselawn Terrace.
He was born, February 7, 1936, in Bridgeport, Ohio, to George W. and Edith V. (Woods) Theaker and has been an Alliance resident since 1941.
A 1954 graduate of Alliance High School, he was employed by General Motors till his retirement in 1984 after 16 years of service.
He attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church and was a member of the Methodist Men. He was also an honorary member of the Lexington Ruritans and honorary president of the Science Hill Historical Society and member of the United Auto Workers Local No. 1112, and AARP.
James served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961 and the United States Army Reserves from 1961 to 1965.
Survivors include his son, Timothy Scott (Sheryll) Theaker and their two children, Colt and Christine of Alliance; a daughter, Julie Lynn Theaker and her spouse, Steven F. Shaffer, and their daughter, Lily of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; and a brother, G. Robert Theaker of Boardman.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Beverly Jean (Stine) Theaker of Alliance, whom he married, August 26, 1956.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Pastor Joel Adkins officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
