James R. Cottrill, age 88 of Alliance, passed away at 5:08 p.m., Saturday, October 5 at his home.
He was born October 31, 1930 in Lost Creek, West Virginia to French and Virginia (Highland) Cottrill.
Jim served in the National Guard for nine years, and worked as a Machinist at Ford Motor Company before retiring in 1992.
In addition to being a “Jack of All Trades” – he loved fishing, woodworking, and was an avid Cleveland Sports fan.
Along with his late wife, Elaine, Jim was active with TOPS, where he was an Area Captain for ten years and helped make decorations for the conventions.
Survivors include daughter, Cathy Lowe of Alliance, son, Kenneth (Teri) Cottrill of Atwater; grandchildren, Robin (Joe Brock) Cottrill, Jimmy Cottrill, Kendra (Cory) Levis, Cory Cottrill, Niki Long, Kati Foster and Michelle Foster; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Lee Cottrill who died in 1980; grandson, Robert Lee Cottrill II who died July 2019; his wife, Elaine, E. (Bush) Cottrill, whom he married August 28, 1950, and who died September 18, 2019; and siblings, Mary Francis Fernandez, Jean Brower, and Spencer Cottrill.

Services will be held at Noon Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Freddie Rodriguez officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to Noon prior to the service.
Interment will be at Atwater Cemetery.
