Jane A. (Franks) Courtney, age 85, of Alliance passed away at 2:49 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born January 18, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, to Howard and Sarah (Wilson) Qualk.
Jane graduated from Alliance High School. She loved raising her family and enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include her children, Bill Franks of N. Benton, Barbara "Honey" (Dave) Marzac of Tennessee, Bob (Lorraine) Franks, Walt (Beth) Franks and Chester "Boo" (Karen) Franks, all of Alliance and Sarah "May" (Phil) Biedenbach of Paris; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walt (Ann) Qualk of Bluefield, Kentucky, and Bob (JoAnn) Qualk of Atwater; and two sisters, Delores (Walt) Schneeburger of Green and Alice (Wayne) Blazer of Alliance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle E. Courtney; daughter, Ruth Ann "Sugar" Blake; son, James Franks and brothers, C.J. Qualk, Dan Qualk and Duke Qualk.
A Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with the Rev. Timothy Muse officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Atwater Cemetery.
