Jane Leonard Girt age 88 of Sebring, died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday June 1, 2004 at Crandall Medical Center.
Mrs. Girt was born November 21, 1915 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to George Irwin and Marie (Mercer) Leonard. She graduated in 1933 from Langley High School in Pittsburgh, and from the Pittsburgh Business College. She moved to Alliance twenty-two years ago, and had lived at Copeland Oaks the last nine years.
Mrs. Girt was a former secretary of the Traffic Club of Pittsburgh, Secretary of the Variety Club of Pittsburgh. She also ran the Muscular Dystrophy Telethons in Pittsburgh.
She later owned and operated her own public stenographic service in the Penn-Sheraton Hotel in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Girt was a volunteer at St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh and later at the Alliance Community Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan G. Schoeni of Alliance, one grandson, Todd R. Schoeni of Pittsburgh, one nephew, George and Cindy Leonard of Columbus, and a cousin, Merce and Louise Stern of Pittsburgh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Ida R. Gilbert, one brother George W. Leonard, and long-time friend, Harry H. Ramsay.
Services will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. David Parry officiating. Visitation will be held one half-hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
