Jane Louise Smithyman, age 83 of Alliance, died at 10:35 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2005 at Alterra Sterling House.
She was born November 30, 1921 in Alliance, Ohio to William and Helen (Anderson) Wagner, and was a life-long resident.
Mrs. Smithyman was a graduate of Fairmount School and Alliance High School and attended Mount Union College of Nursing.
Jane was a member of First Christian Church. She was also a former member of the Church Choir and Senior Disciples, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 296 of Alliance, ASME Ladies Auxiliary, Buckeye Trailer Club, Roadrunner Trailer Club, Music Study Club, Alliance Senior Center, Senior Center Chorus and Mt. Union Chorale.
Jane is survived by two daughters, Sandi-Irene Jones (Fred) of Canton, Michigan, Jana-Ruth Achbach (Bill) of Westminster, Colorado, one son, Charles Robert Smithyman of Boulder, Colorado, one grandson, Timothy Robert Jones (Sze) of Venice, California, one granddaughter, Heather Elizabeth Achbach of Westminster, Colorado, and various cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Richard W. Wagner, and her husband, Robert Charles Smithyman, whom she married August 2, 1947.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday October 8th at First Christian Church, with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
