Jane E. Stevens, age 92, of Alliance, passed away peacefully at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, after a brief illness.
She was born April 4, 1920, in Alliance, Ohio, to Edson J. and Elizabeth (Garman) Stevens, and was a lifelong Alliance resident.
A 1938 graduate of Alliance High School, Jane was employed as a secretary at the former Cope Furniture Company for 41 years and manager at the Alliance Women's Club for 18 years.
Jane was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and an Honorary Member of the Alliance Women's Club.
Survivors include cousins, Fred Bates and Barbara Pierce; and many other distant relatives.
Jane loved dogs, and routinely watched the three little ones of her special friend, Amy King, who Jane thought of as a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral home with Pastor Jim McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
