Jane L. Tillman, age 86, of Alliance, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2007 at Bel Air Care Center.
She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on June 24, 1921, to Park and Carrie (Armstrong) Sampson and lived in the Alliance area most of her life.
A 1939 graduate of Goshen High School, Mrs. Tillman attended business colleges in Salem and Columbus. Jane retired from Rodman Public Library after working for many years in the children's department. After her retirement, she was involved with the Adult Education Literacy program.
Mrs. Tillman was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church and former Sunday school teacher.
She was an avid reader and liked to travel, especially to Europe and Alaska. Jane enjoyed corresponding with many host families affiliated with the Mount Union College International Exchange Program. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandsons.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Conrad of Las Vegas, Nev.; her son, David (JoAnn) Tillman of Homeworth; grandchildren, Allison (Jason) Ludwig and Kurt (Vera) Tillman; great-grandsons Trevor and Carter Ludwig; and sister, Nancy Hank of North Benton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Robert W. Tillman whom she married Aug. 23, 1947 and who died January 4, 2003; and infant brother, Tod William Sampson.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyte Wilhelm officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery.
