Jane Stamp Zang, age 91, of Florence, SC, formerly of Alliance, died at 1:50 p.m. April 26, 2007, at McCleod Regional Medical Center in Florence following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Zang was born in 1916 in Philadelphia, PA where her father was in medical school. She graduated in 1934 from Alliance High School and in 1938 from Mount Union College where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Following graduate studies at Radcliff College, she taught fifth grade in the Alliance School System until her marriage to LeRoy Lamborn Zang on February 21, 1942.
Jane was a former member of Coterie, Flower Garden Club, Alliance Garden Club, Hulbert Garden Club, Alliance Country Club, Congress Lake Club, Country Club of Florence, and the Florence Women's Symphony Guild.
Survivors include her three daughters, Katherine Z. Mills of Pleasanton, CA, Margaret Z. Curtis of Hulbert, MI, and Elizabeth Z. Cramer of Mt. Pleasant, SC; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law Florence "Gene" Stamp; two nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Floyd and Katherine Keith Stamp, husband, LeRoy Lamborn Zang, and brother, Lewis Keith Stamp.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Lewis K. Stamp, Jr. and Dr. Jeremy S. Lane officiating. Friends may call from 1-2:30 p.m. Entombment will follow in the Lamborn-Zang Family Mausoleum at the Alliance City Cemetery.
