Janet R. Murphy

Janet R. (Eaton) Murphy, age 88, of Alliance, passed away to be with her Lord in her heavenly home, Tuesday, July 31, 2018.
She was born September 11, 1929, in Sebring, Ohio, to the late Elbert and Ruth (Goehring) Eaton.
Janet was a 1947 graduate of Sebring High School, employed as a secretary for Murphy Excavating and loved being a homemaker.
A member of Alliance Friends Church for over 60 years, she was an active participant in the church nursery and the Women's Missionary Society.
Janet loved singing on the radio in her early years, hosting at her home, scrapbooking, birdwatching, decorating, and taking photos of nature and family. She and her husband, Don, spent 30 years wintering in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Survivors include her husband, Don Murphy of 68 years, whom she married November 21, 1949; daughter, Janet (Jeff) Soltis of Alliance; grandchildren, Andrea (Jake) Sponseller of Alliance and Jennifer Murphy and Jessica (Josh) Wood, both of Georgia; sister, Sally Johnson of Alliance; brother, Ron (Jackie) Eaton of Sebring; sister-in-law, Sue Eaton; daughter-in-law, Debbie Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her brother, Elbert Eaton; son, Tim Murphy; grandson, Jason Murphy; and brother-in-law, Tom Johnson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 6, 2018, at Alliance Friends Church with Rev. Rick Sams and Gil Goodwin officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and at 10 a.m., Monday at the church. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ana and Voicu Marian's ministry in Romania. Contributions may be sent to the Alliance Friends Church 1307 W. State St., Alliance, OH 44601 for Ana and Voicu Marian's ministry.
