Janet Ann Sten, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 82 on April 12, 2016.
Janet, a native of Struthers, OH, was born November 1933. In 1955 she graduated from Youngstown College (now Youngstown State University) with a degree in Elementary Education. She went on to teach in Youngstown at Garfield Elementary until the birth of her first child in 1963.
She and her husband, Carl B. Sten, were married August 25, 1962. During their 53 years of marriage they traveled the world, with work leading them to live in Wales, Australia and finally retiring in Knoxville, Tennessee; where they remained until returning to Sebring, OH in 2014.
Janet spent her life committed to faith, friends and family. A dedicated Roman Catholic, she volunteered her time teaching adult education, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, lecture and singing in the church choir.
Playing bridge with her dearest friends remained a favorite pastime throughout her life, earning a designation as a lifetime master, allowing her to teach bridge to newcomers and to direct official tournaments. Devotion to family lead her to return to Ohio where closest family remains.
