Janet C. West, age 76, of Alliance, passed away at 10:40 a.m., Monday, February 23, 2015, at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
She was born August 4, 1938, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Peter and Marcella (Sweesy) Taaffe and came to Alliance 37 years ago.
A 1957 graduate of Newton Falls High School, Janet was a homemaker who enjoyed playing bingo, reading and crocheting. She especially enjoyed Monday morning McDonald's time with her friends.
Survivors include her husband, Ray (Doug) West whom she married March 27, 1977; children, Sherre (Jim) Fenton of Broomfield, Colorado, Michael West and Doug Fetty, both of Alliance, Charmalee (Sam) Morganti of Vandergriff, Pennsylvania, Terry (Kathy) West of W. Palm Beach, Florida, Steve (Delila) Fetty and Brenda (Stephen) Stickler, both of Alliance, Lisa (Russell) Vickers of Vermillion, and Brian (Tobi) Fetty of Canton; twin brother, Jim (Teddie) Taaffe of Pennsylvania and brother, Jerry (Mary) Taaffe of Virginia; sister, Maureen (Ed Kavalesky) Chiasson of Austintown; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her best friend, Beverly Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Hohlbaugh officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers Janet's family would like memorial contributions to be made to the Community Hospice House, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
