Janet Druscilla West, age 59 of Alliance, died at Alliance Community Hospital at 2:07 a.m. after a long illness, on Sunday, December 14, 2008.
She was born on November 10, 1949 in Alliance, Ohio to Roy and Betty (Morgan) Ogden.
Jan was a graduate of West Branch High School and Aultman School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was employed as an industrial nurse at Morgan Engineering, Transue and Williams Co., J & L Steel, and General Motors Lordstown, Ohio. She also was a consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics for 27 years.
Jan was a life long member of North Benton Presbyterian Church and former Deacon and choir member of the church. She enjoyed gardening, growing orchids, her cats, and enjoyed calligraphy. Jan also loved traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Harold West of Alliance, whom she married on June 27, 1970; three daughters, Gina (Michael) Sprenger of Twinsburg, Ohio, Lara (Michael) Shiplett of North Royalton, Ohio, and Allison West of Alliance, Ohio; five grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Sprenger, and Elisabeth, Samuel, and Sarah Shiplett; two brothers, Stephen (Lana) Ogden and William Ogden both of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant brother, Danny.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at North Benton Presbyterian Church, 19070 North Benton West Road North Benton, Ohio 44449 with Pastor James McCurdy officiating. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S. Union Ave. Alliance, Ohio 44601 and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
