Janice K. (Skipper) Carlile, 54, of Alliance passed away at 6:30 p.m. on January 14, 2009 at Kent Healthcare Center in Kent following a courageous fight with a long illness.
Janice was born in Alliance on November 13, 1954, the daughter of Kenneth and Doris (McKenzie) Skipper.
She was a 1973 graduate of Marlington High School and attended Kent State University. She was a member of the Vine Street United Methodist Church of Alliance.
Janice accomplished a highly successful and extensive professional career in the administrative and customer service fields of manufacturing businesses. The early years of her career took her to Sunnyvale, California where she worked as a regional administrator and customer service representative for SmithKline Instruments and Verbatim Corporation. Upon her relocation to Akron, Ohio, she served as a sales representative and divisional administrative assistant for Carlon Corporation of Cleveland, regional sales administrator for Lamson and Sessions of Beachwood, and customer service specialist for Venture Lighting of Solon.
Janice's true passions were her family and her pets. She rescued and cared for many animals. Her whole- hearted devotion to her horses, dogs and cats not only provided them with unconditional love and a forever home, but filled her life with great joy as well. Janice was a very special member of her family; it was her fun-loving sense of humor that was always the spark to ignite and infuse happiness and joy into occasions and treasured memories. She especially enjoyed reminiscing about all the wonderful, fun times and laughs they had shared.
Janice is survived by her parents of Alliance; her sister, Lynne (John) Bowen of Sarasota, Florida; brother, David Skipper of Warren, Ohio; nieces, Sherry Jensen of Lakewood, Colorado, Jody Hicks of Medina, Ohio, Danielle Skipper of Warren, Ohio; nephew, Matthew Skipper of Warren; and two great nieces and two great nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to honor Janice planned at 11 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Dr. David Bloor officiating.
