Janice J. (Hoover) Petre

Janice Jean Hoover Petre, age 95, of Sebring, formerly of Alliance passed away at 5:45 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Crandall Medical Center.

She was born November 14, 1923 in Alliance, Ohio to the late Harold H. and Rachel (Ebie) Hoover.

A 1941 graduate of Alliance High School, Janice was employed for many years as head bookkeeper at Alliance Builders Supply.

She was active in numerous community organizations; and was a founding member of Modern Homemakers Club, former member of Lexington Grange; and volunteer at Alliance Community Hospital.

A member for over 50 years at Science Hill Community Church; she was involved with the Science Hill Historical Society, member of Tannenhauf women’s golf, and formerly active at the Alliance Senior Center.

She and her late husband Bob enjoyed boating, water skiing, camping and traveling together. She liked to garden, enjoyed outdoor activities, handicrafts, and especially spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie (Fred) Mills of Cleveland Heights and Sandy (Dennis) Kapper of Marlboro; grandchildren, Abbie (Will) Tireman and great-grandchildren, Lizzie and Matt; Luke (Sarah) Kapper and great-granddaughter, Ellie; and Paul (Julie) Kapper, and great-grandchildren, Grady and Hanna; brothers, Dale Hoover and Richard (Nancy) Hoover.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert Ray Petre; and brother, Donald Hoover.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday August 24th at 11 a.m. at Science Hill Community Church, 12316 Beeson St. NE Alliance, Ohio 44601 with Pastor Jonathan Truax officiating. Family visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Science Hill Community Church.
