Jarry M. Stevens

Jarry M. Stevens, age 88, passed away on December 6, 2023.

She was born to Ray and Mildred Hahn on May 13, 1935 and has resided in Alliance most of her life. She was married to the late Robert L. Stevens.

A graduate of Bolton Elementary School, Alliance High School and Kent State University, she taught first grade at Lexington Elementary School until her retirement in 1991.

Jarry was a Christian and loved her church; she was a member of Beechwood Christian Church. She taught Glory Gang, chaired the funeral dinner committee and served the cookie ministry.

Jarry was a member of the Take Off Pounds Sensibly chapter 1683 where she obtained the status of Keep Off Pounds Sensibly. She was an 18 year breast cancer survivor and Reach to Recovery program volunteer. She was also a colon cancer survivor.

Jarry was a family oriented person. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her life. God hand-picked her family. She loved the birthday and anniversary celebrations, euchre parties, and family Thanksgivings at her home and in Miami and Key West. Also special to her were the yearly, sometimes twice yearly, fishing trips to Canada. She was an avid traveler the last 30 years, enjoying trips to different countries in Europe twice a year, and to China, Russia, Iceland, and South America. A trip to Alaska in 2015 was her last major trip. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mark (Barbara) Reay and Craig (Lori) Reay; grandchildren, Sandra, Rebecca, Justin (Vivian), Derik, and Tyler (Lindsay); and great-grandchildren, Esteban, Isabelle, Harry, Elinor and Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Jack Hahn; and aunt, Bernice Cassidy.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on December 11^th at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home followed by a quiet prayer service. A private burial at Marlboro Cemetery will follow.
