Jean Alta Bigham

Jean Alta Bigham, age 88, of Sebring passed away at 9:58 a.m., Monday, January 11, 2016, at her home.
She was born June 27, 1927, in Sebring, Ohio, to Robert and Mildred (Taylor) Manypenny, raised in Amsterdam, Ohio, and graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1945.
Jean was a devoted member of the Alliance Friends Church. She was a very caring, loving and thoughtful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time gardening and always cared for her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Janice Scott of Alliance, Barbara (Thom) Richardson of Salem and Fred (Linda) Bigham of Sebring; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grover Bigham whom she married March 28, 1948 and who died September 8, 2015; sisters, Ardella Grant and Catherine Carli; and a brother, Russell Manypenny.
Services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2016, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sams of Alliance Friends Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
