Jean Isabel Coe, age 89 of Alliance, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Alliance Community Hospital.
Jean was born December 8, 1920 in Alliance, Ohio to Albert and Katie (Auld) Wafler and was a lifelong resident.
A graduate of Alliance High School and 1943 graduate of Mount Union College, Jean was formerly employed by Ohio Bell Telephone Company in the business office.
A member of First United Presbyterian Church, Jean also belonged to Alpha Xi Delta Sorority for sixty years, and was the recipient of the Order of Rose and Order of the Pearl.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; former member of the Alliance Woman's Club and enjoyed playing bridge.
Survivors include her sister, Lois (William) Bossert of Alliance; nephew, Gary (Bev) Bossert of Lake Suzy, Florida; three step-grandchildren and step-son-in-law, Thomas M. Bay of Columbus.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jones B. Coe, whom she married July 14, 1946, and who died February 3, 1972; step-daughter, Mary Francis Bay, and brother, Henry Wafler.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor James McCurdy officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
