Jean Elizabeth (Blair) Madison

Jean Elizabeth (Blair) Madison, age 93, of Alliance, Ohio died Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Community Care Center with her family by her side. Born October 21, 1926 in Alliance, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Guian and Iva May (Shaw) Blair.  She was preceded in death by her parents; twin grandsons, Christopher and Mathew; and her husband, of 67 years, Elvin Ray whom she married July 15, 1951.

She is survived by three sons, Jack B. (Linda) of Catawba Island, Ohio, Richard S. of Bath, Ohio, and Robert T. (Brenda) of Alliance. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Sarah (Matt) of Cincinnati, Aaron (Juliana) of Florida, Conner, twins, Aubrey & Bailey of Bath, Ohio, Elliot and Ellen of Catawba Island, Ohio. She is also survived by two nieces, Cindy (Ron) Knepp of Alliance and Chandra Rudolph (Kelly) of Copley; and special cousins, Patty (Pepper) Zwick and Cathy Colley.

Mrs. Madison worked at the former Alliance First National Bank in the consumer loan department. She was a graduate of Alliance High School and attended Kent State University. She was an over 50 year member of Beta Sigma Phi business sorority and as a past president of the Alliance Chapter.

Jean enjoyed gardening and baking, and was known for her pies.  She loved traveling with her late husband and spending time with her family. She has been an active life member of the First United Presbyterian Church. She has served the church as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Elder, along with membership in the church Women’s Society and many volunteer committees at the church and Camp Limrod. She has been a member of The Catawba Island Club and member of the Alliance YWCA. She was active in the school PTA and served in the past as president of the South Liberty School PTA. She also drove for Meals on Wheels for eight years.

The family would like to thank Community Care Center and Alliance Hospice for the great care they have given to Jean over the last several years.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 23, 2019 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jim McCurdy officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Fairmount Memorial Park, Alliance.
