Jenny L. Codrea

Jenny L. (Dutia) Codrea, age 88, of Alliance, passed away at 9:14 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Aultman Hospital with her children by her side.
She was born June 8, 1928, in Youngstown, to Benedict and Maria (Bogdan) Dutia.
She was a graduate of Youngstown Business College and before starting her family, Jenny worked at United Co-op.
For over 60 years Jenny was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church and is now affiliated with St. Nikolai Orthodox Mission of Alliance. She taught Sunday school for 25 years, was a member of Circle Two and Church Women United. Jenny also helped operate her husband's business, John Codrea Excavating, was active in PTA and enjoyed swimming at Concord. For over 20 years, Jenny also enjoyed spending her winters in Lehigh Acres, Florida.
She is survived by her children, John (Karen) Codrea of Michigan and Jenifer Codrea of Alliance; grandchildren, Mallory (Josh) Brown and Austin Codrea; great- grandchildren; sister, Anne Mamrak of Boardman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Codrea, whom she married May 25, 1952 and who passed away in 2000; daughter, Mary Helen Codrea; and brother, George Dutia.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2016, at St. Nikolai Orthodox Mission of Alliance with Fr. George Carstea and Deacon James Gresh co-officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A Saracusta Service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
