Jerald Lee Johnson, age 74, of Alliance, passed away at 10:55 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2013, at his home with his family by his side after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born October 3, 1938, in Canton, Ohio, to Leroy D. and Florence E. (Beadle) Johnson.
Jerry graduated from Alliance High School in 1956, real estate school in Canton, and also attended Malone College.
He was employed at Sugardale Foods in Canton for 41 years in the maintenance department.
Jerry was a member of AARP and the Fraternal Order of Foresters. His hobbies and interests included fishing, hunting, archery, bowling and boating. He enjoyed hunting with his brother Ron and his Dad and his fishing trips to Lake Erie and Canada with his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda. L. (Bonam) Johnson; four daughters, Kim Palcich of Canton, Jeri Lynn (Rick) Lance of North Canton, Alisha Johnson of Alliance and Rhonda Davis of Michigan; sister, Sandy Hastings of California; brother, Ron (Sue) Johnson of Wadsworth; seven grandchildren, Bryan Colby, Jeremy and Jennifer Lance, Desirae Ross, Tyler (Brooke) Means, Devin Means and Tiffany (Nate) Reynolds; and three great-grandchildren, Colt and Max Means and David Reynolds.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Lucille Bible, in-laws, Lloyd (Katherine) Bonam; son-in-law, Dave Davis; and brothers-in-law, Ed Bonam and Daniel Hastings.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Lance Lindenberger of Northwest Church of Christ officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
