Jimmie K. Moore, age 72, of Alliance, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born July 22, 1940, in Mooresville, WV, to Peter R. and Lessie Okel (McCoy) Moore and resided in Alliance since 1967.
A graduate of University High School in Morgantown, WV, Jimmie was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having retired after 21 years of service; 8 years active duty and 13 years in active reserves, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant as security police. He also retired after 29 years of employment with Alliance City Water Department as a foreman.
Jimmie was a member of the Alliance Friends Church, Crusaders Sunday school class, 60 Plus Club, and a former youth leader at the church. He delivered Meals on Wheels, member of Multiple Sclerosis Support Group, AARP, Air Force Sergeant's Association and the American Legion Post No. 166.
Survivors include his daughter, Debra K. (Steve) Wiandt of Ravenna; daughter-in-law, Jackie Moore, of Grove City, OH; grandchildren, Stephen K. (Rachel) Moore, Andrea Moore, and grandson, Jameson David Wiandt due November 9th; great-grandson, Riley Moore; brother, John (Mary) Moore of Augusta, GA; sisters, Betty Robinson of Moundsville, WV, Sue Fortney of Jonesborough, TN, and Ann (Millard) McMillen of Beloit; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces; great-great-nephews; and family friend, Mary Gillingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sheila K. (Pugh) Moore, whom he married May 31, 1959, and who died November 7, 2008; son, David K. Moore; brothers, Raymond, Robert, Donald, William, Lyle; sister, Ruby Rice; and two infant brothers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Alliance Friends Church with Pastor Rick Sams and Associate Pastor Gilbert Goodwin officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
