Joan Louise (Kintz) Spittler died peacefully on January 28, 2016.
She was born August 9, 1929, in Canton, Ohio, to Dolores and Paul A. Kintz.
Joan graduated from Alliance High School and Notre Dame College in Cleveland, Ohio. While in college she met her husband, Richard M. Spittler. They married September 27, 1952.
Joan was a devoted wife and mother, an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother, and a loving sister, aunt, and friend.
She was an avid supporter of her children's and grandchildren's pursuits, a sports enthusiast, baker, bridge player, golfer, and gardener.
Joan lived her faith and was a long time member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church (Alliance, Ohio) and Holy Spirit Catholic Church (Lantana, Florida). She was a committed resident of the Alliance community with long time membership in the Alliance Woman's Club, Hill & Dale Garden Club, the Catholic Woman's Club, Alliance Country Club, and Congress Lake Country Club. For many years she wintered in Atlantis, Florida, near family and friends, and was a long time member of Atlantis Country Club and Atlantis Golf Club.
She is survived by her brothers, James (Sara Ann, deceased) and Charles (Jan) Kintz; her children, John (Karen) Spittler, Ann (Randy) Hunt, Christine (James) Humboldt, Robert (Teresa) Spittler, Mary Lynn (Michael) Silvestro, and Philip (Maribeth) Spittler; her grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel) Hunt, Matthew (Christina) Hunt, Leslie (Matthew) Bartula, Jack (Jennifer) Spittler, Stephanie (Matthew) Boyd, Amy Humboldt, Katherine (Matthew) Hoffman, Michael (Abby) Spittler, Daniel (Kathleen) Humboldt, Teresa Spittler, Thomas Silvestro, Patrick Spittler, Joseph Silvestro, Genevieve Spittler, Anna Spittler, Peter Spittler, Sara Spittler, Matthew Spittler, Stephen Spittler, Hyacinthe Mutuyubutatu, and Jeanne d'Arc Irizera; and her great-grandchildren, Margaret (Maggie) Hunt, Theodore (Teddy) Hunt, Zachary Hunt, Anthony Hunt, Benjamin Bartula, and Andrew Hoffman.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Richard; her brother, Robert (Barbara) Kintz; and her parents.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday February 1, 2016, at Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
