Joan Woolf

Joan M. Woolf, age 86, of Alliance passed away at 2:25 a.m. Friday, December 25, 2009 at her home.
She was born November 17, 1923, in Alliance to Harry and Nettie (Gulling) Kelty and was a life long Alliance resident.
A graduate of Alliance High School, class of 1941, Joan began her career in the executive offices of Taylorcraft Aviation and was employed there until it closed in 1946. She then joined the Alliance Manufacturing Company, later known as the Genie Company. In 1963, she was the first secretary in the Alliance Area to pass the Certified Professional Secretary Exam. She retired from Genie, as secretary to the president in 1982.
Joan was a member of the Board of Directors of the Alliance Historical Society and served as a docent. She was also a member of the Quota Club and was voted Quotarian of the Year in 2005. She was a member of Qui Vive Club, Alliance Women's Club, and the Canton Camera Club.
She and her husband combined their love of photography and their computer savvy to create presentations of their various travels for the Rodman Travel Series as well as for various clubs and church organization throughout the community, including the Alliance Senior Center.
Survivors include her husband, Frank H. Woolf whom she married August 9, 1947; her brother, Richard (Jeanette) Kelty, of North Canton; six nephews, Richard (Pam) Kelty, James Kelty, Jeff (Barb) Kelty, Mark (Nellie) Kelty, Keith (Cathy) Kelty and Steve (Linda) Kelty; a niece, Lisa (Chris) Johnson; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Regina Coeli Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Seifert officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
