John Andrew Lika, age 94 of 7040 Hepburn Rd., Middleburg Heights, Ohio died at Parkside Villa Nursing Home at 7:53 p.m. March 19, 2006.
He was born Sept. 11, 1911 in Cetata de Balta, Romania to Andrew and Elizabeth Lica and lived in Alliance most of his life.
Mr. Lika graduated from Mount Union College, was self-employed in advertising and was the owner of the former Cottage Pub Restaurant.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, and past president of the church for twenty years. He was also a member of Conrad Masonic Lodge 271 F&AM, and Tadmor Temple.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel (Moldovan) Lika, whom he married Sept. 1, 1940; two sons, John (Anne) Lika Jr. of Burlington, Vermont, and Larry (Terri) Lika of Medina, Ohio, and five grandchildren, Katherine, Oliviana, Adriana, Jonah, and Aiden Lika.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church with Fr. Raymond J. Samoila officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, where Saracusta Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
