John Louis Bradley

August 23, 1926 — March 24, 2019

John Louis Bradley, age 92 of Homeworth, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, March 24, 2019, with his loving wife at his side, at Alliance Community Hospital.

He was born August 23, 1926 in Deerfield, Ohio to James and Mildred (Cherrington) Bradley.

Mr. Bradley attended Alliance High School and after returning from the U.S. Navy he followed his father’s footsteps by working on the railroad until he landed a job at Transue Williams Forging Plant where he worked for 32 years as a die setter until he retired in 1983.  John always had a 2nd job as a self-employed mason and specialized in block and brick work.

A U. S. Navy W.W. II veteran, he served on the USS Lloyd during most of his Navy career until his honorary discharge in l947. John was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ, a life member of the American Legion, 70 year member of Mile Branch Grange and was active on the fair board.  He was member of the Tired Men’s Golf League, enjoyed bowling, classic cars, going to car shows, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed wood-working, building and making yard art for his family.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene (Hoffman) Bradley, whom he married May 7, 1950; daughters, Sherry (John) Fergason, of Louisville,  and Tracy (Darrell) Jones of Louisville; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie, Bradley, Natalie, Nicholas, Carli, Tyler, and Alyssa; 5 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Eileen Blount and Janis Swartz.

John was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Connie Voican; two brothers, James and William Bradley; and sister, Sylvia Tucker.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Allen R. Kahler officiating.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
