John W. Brill, age 97, of Ft. Myers, Florida, formerly of Alliance, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Community Care Center in Alliance, Ohio.
He was born April 12, 1916, in Conway, PA, to John and Katie (Cowell) Brill.
John graduated Alliance High School and then from Bliss Business College and design school in New York City and was the co-founder of Lingenfelter Brill.
A member of the First Christian Church, John was a former member of the Lions Club, Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce, Junior Chamber and the Conrad Masonic Lodge. He also enjoyed coin collecting and making fur keepsake bears. He loved all wildlife.
Survivors include his wife of over 73 years, Kathryn (Soles) Brill; son, Harold (Jo Dee) Brill of Alliance; daughter, Karen (Tom) McKenna of Middletown Maryland; daughter-in-law, Margaret Brill; one grandson; five granddaughters; two step-grandsons; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith A. Brill; and sisters, Martha, Evelyn and Vera.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at First Christian Church with Sue DeHoff officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Alliance Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice, 885 S. Sawburg Rd.
