John T. Crutchley, age 92, of Alliance, died at 7:05 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Green Meadows Care Center.
He was born February 6, 1920, in Deerfield, Ohio, to Fred and Rose (Lewis) Crutchley.
A 1938 graduate of Deerfield High School, John retired in 1977 after working as a steam engineer for B&W McDermott for thirty years.
A U. S. Army WWII Veteran, John was a member of the American Legion Post 166, Past Master of Atwater Grange 2201, and member of the Alliance Elks.
Survivors include; daughter, Marge Vassas of Canton, son, Robert (Nancy) Crutchley of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Matthew (Shar) Crutchley, Matthew (Jennifer) Sinkovitz, and Jason (Julie) Sinkovitz, five great grandchildren, Chase Alan Crutchley, Brad Hudson, Nora Sinkovitz, Tommy Forrer, and Delaney Sinkovitz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jean (Fahey) Crutchley, whom he married Aug. 7, 1948, and who died January 11, 2008, brother, Earl Crutchley, and sisters, Emma Glass and Claris Borchardt.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
