John E. Dickson, Sr., age 62, of Alliance, died at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at his home.
John was born November 12, 1949, in Alliance, Ohio, to James and Hazel (Heaton) Dickson.
He associated with the First Baptist Church, worked as a chipper at American Steel, and enjoyed camping and spending time with his friends.
John was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte L. (Rodgers) Dickson whom he married July 23, 1996; three children, Joyce (Chris) Lilly of Pinehill, S. Carolina, John (Dawn) Dickson, Jr. and Joe (Denise) Dickson, both of Alliance; eight grandchildren; and siblings, Kenny Dickson, Chuck (Mary) Dickson, Richard Dickson, Roger Dickson, Mary Rhoades and Nancy Smith, all of Alliance; and special friends, Brad and Star and children.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister; and three brothers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2012, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Rhodes officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
