John D. Eberling passed away at his home on Sunday February 14, 2021 with his wife by his side. John was born in Alliance on May 8, 1934. He was the son of the late Ellis and Dorothy (Leasure) Eberling. He attended Alliance High School and worked at the Alliance Drop Forge for 33 years and Filnor Inc. for 12 years until his retirement. John was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 67 and a half years, Jean (Gibbs) Eberling; their children, Susan (Bruce) French of Westerville, Steven Eberling of Beloit, and Jodi (Todd) Miller of Homeworth; six grandchildren, Brian (Lindsey) French, Tori (Donnie) Jewell, Darren (Kasey) Eberling, Jason (Megan) French, Zach (Daphney) Miller, Christi (Tim) Adkins; ten great-grandchildren; as well as one brother, Robert (Margaret) Eberling; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Eberling and Shirley Favazzo.
John loved sunshine, warm weather, the beach and riding his scooter. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren talking sports, hunting, work and anything they were involved in. He was always cheered up by playing with his young great-grandchildren. He had special memories of all the time he spent with his brother riding along with him in his semi-truck, making deliveries and meeting new friends along the way.
His greatest accomplishment was being married to the love of his life for almost 68 years.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, February 19th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Matthew Mankowski officiating. Friends may call at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
