John M. "Jack" Guess

John M. "Jack" Guess passed away December 9, 2014 at 11:45 a.m. following a short illness. Jack was born in Akron, Ohio, to Mervin and Martha (Filby) Guess. He was a graduate of the University of Akron along with being an active member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. While at Akron U, he received his commission in the United States Air Force following flight school and served a year in Korea. Jack came to Alliance in 1967 to work for Transue and Williams as the HR Director and retired from Hendrickson Trailer of Canton, Ohio. His activities included; the Board of Education (Alliance), United Way, Junior Achievement, and the Alliance Country Club Board. Jack was a charter member of the Canton Alcohol and Drug board, Stark County Health Care Coalition, 32nd Degree Mason, member of Tadmore Temple and BPO Elks, Negro History Club and a longtime member of the Alliance Country Club. Jack is survived by his wife, Beverly (Brown) Guess of 54 years; daughter, Kim Guess-O'Farrell of North Royalton; son, Brad (Sherri) Guess of Hartville, and his beloved grandchildren, Colin, Cailey, Thomas Jack "TJ", and Leah Rose. Mr. Guess was preceded in death by his parents. A Masonic service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday with a Memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Joel Cochran officiating. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S.
