John J. "Jack" Hill, age 90, of Alliance, died at 2:48 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2013, at Crandall Medical Center.
He was born October 25, 1922, in Midland, Pennsylvania, to Jesse I. and Mary (Householder) Hill.
A graduate of Beaver Falls High School in Pennsylvania, he also attended the Kiske Prep School.
He retired after 42 years with the Pennsylvania Railroad/Conrail.
Jack was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee, deacon and on the personnel committee.
He was a member of the Masonic Trinity Lodge No. 710 in Canton, the Consistory Lodge in New Castle, PA, the American Legion and a 20-plus year member of the Alliance YMCA.
Survivors include his wife, June M. (Kelly) Hill, whom he married September 1, 1951; son, Jon (Melinda) Hill of Tallmadge; daughter, Erin (Mark) Johanyak of Norton; five grandchildren, Jay (Ashley) Hill, Maggie Hill, and Abbey, Amanda and Ethan Johanyak; and a brother, William (Dorothy) Hill of Beaver Falls, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Niles and a sister, Joan.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jim McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Atwater Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made the charity of the donor's choice.
