John E. Lastivka, age 78, of Alliance, died at 1:55 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012, at Alliance Community Care Center.
He was born September 12, 1933, in Port Homer, Ohio, to Andrew and Ann (Bednar) Lastivka and has resided in Alliance since 1957.
John graduated from Toronto High School and worked at the former Ameritech as a technician until his retiring.
A member of the St Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance, he also belonged to the Sleepy Hollow Golf Club and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post No. 1036.
John was a United States Marine Corp. veteran, having served in the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife Maxine (Crum) Lastivka of Alliance, whom he married May 4, 1963; sister, Bonnie (Paul) Trudics and brother, Joe (Matilda) Lastivka, both of Toronto, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Mankowski officiating. Per family request there will be no visitation. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
