John Magda, age 83 of Alliance, died at his home at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2005.
He was born April 25, 1922 in Alliance, Ohio to John and Mary (Roiban) Magda, and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Magda graduated from Alliance High School and was employed by Alliance Machine Company as a Machinist for 30 years, until retiring. He was later employed by the Marlington School System.
He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minerva, and a former member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Magda was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran, having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, with the 84th Seabees Battalion.
Survivors include his wife, Diana C. Magda, whom he married May 20, 1995; two sons, John A. Magda of Mt. Gilead, Ohio and Andrew (Cynthia) Magda of Alliance; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two step-sons, Burt (Stacy) Long of Minerva, and James (Kim) Long of Canton; one step-daughter, Kimberly Long of Arcadia, California; five step-grandchildren, one sister, Annie Magda of Alliance, one nephew and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Katherine E. (Choma) whom he married Feb. 7. 1948, and who died May 27, 1987; and one sister, Mary Shindeldecker.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Hookway officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
