John D. McKee, age 92, of Alliance, formerly of Beloit, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Community Care Center.
He was born October 2, 1919, in Alliance, to William G. and Isabella (Anderson) McKee, and resided most of his life in the Alliance area.
John, a 1938 graduate of Alliance High School, worked as a bricklayer for the former Anderson Construction Company of Alliance for 29 years and later retired from the W.J. Egli Company.
He attended the Alliance Church of the Nazarene. John was a member of Conrad Masonic Lodge No. 271 F and AM and served as worshipful master in 1960 and member of the 37th Division Veteran's Association.
John was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with Battery C 135th Field Artillery Battalion.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Elsie (George) Miller of Beloit; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally (Lillie) McKee, whom he married April 5, 1942 and who died April 13, 2002; sister-in-law, Irene McKee; two brothers, William and Al McKee; and a sister, Isabelle Michalk.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Davidson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance Church of the Nazarene, 1345 S. Arch Ave., Alliance, Oh, 44601.
