John F. Milan, Jr

John F. Milan Jr., age 89, of Alliance for over 60 years, passed away December 3, 2010 at Bel-Air Care Center at 10:22 p.m.
He was born July 15, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John F. and Julia (Boi�½gaty) Milan.
Mr. Milan was a food service manager and a chef, and was employed by Crotty Bros. for over 30 years.
A United States Army World War II Veteran, he graduated as a first cook from Cooks and Bakers School at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, where he completed a 15 week course in cooking, seasoning, and serving of food. He also studied preparation of dehydrated foods, soups, and pastries. John was a tech/mess sergeant and supervised 25 cooks, bakers, and butchers in a mess serving from 900-1800 men per meal on coal stoves.
John was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Connelley High School in Pittsburgh Pa. and of the Reno Business College in Reno, Nev.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to movies, and watching John Wayne Westerns.
Survivors include his wife, Gregoria "Gloria" (Duvaras) Milan, whom he married Dec. 16, 1942, three daughters, Rev. Dr. Jean (Paul) Simpson of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, Suzanne (Erich) Teutsch of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and Christine (David) Marschinke of Alliance; one son, John F. (Kathy) Milan III of Alliance; nine grandchildren; Lois Jean Simpson, Christina (Steve) Burke, Erika (Kevin) O'Mara, Johann (Kate) Teutsch, Christian (Lydia) Teutsch, Heidi Teutsch, Anna (Allen) Topping, Elizabeth (Brett) Marriner, and Beth (Greg) Mueller; seven great-grandchildren; Thomas, Abbie, Savannah, Peter, Jacob, Owen and Mason.
John was the oldest of seven siblings and is survived by two sisters, Betty Jane (Paul) Wonacott of Long Beach, California, and Marcella (Allen) Geber of Seal Beach, California; one brother, Joseph (Barb) Milan of Santa Rosa, California; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leonard, Alexander and Anthony.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 1845 S. Sawburg Rd., Alliance, Ohio 44601, with Pastor Megan Elliott officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
